Portocolom is a small fishing village named after Christopher Columbus, who, it is claimed, was born here. Portocolom still has a traditional feel of a small fishing port, with pastel-painted cottages along the waterside including a selection of restaurants and tapas bars. The main beach of Portocolom is 'Cala Marcal' just South of the marina. The beach has a blue flag award and has soft sand and clear shallow water. The beach is perfect for families as the sand gently shelves into the sea.
